Arlene Koeltzow Skaggs was born July 10, 1938, in Brighton, Colorado.  She was the daughter of the late August and Clara (Gallmeier) Koeltzow. The family moved to Wheatridge, Colorado where Arlene grew up.  She was confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Lakewood, after attending the congregation's Lutheran school.  She graduated from Wheatridge High School in 1956.

On July 22, 1956 Arlene was married to Marvin Skaggs.  The marriage was blessed with two daughters.  Arlene and Marvin lived in Arvada, Colorado and later moved to an acreage outside of Longmont, Colorado where they were blessed with a majestic view of the Rocky Mountains.

Following Marvin's death on May 1, 1993, Arlene and daughter Lori moved to Longmont.  In 2012 they transitioned to Allentown, Pennsylvania to be near daughter Linda and her family.  In 2015 Arlene moved to Cedarbrook Nursing Home where she died on Friday, August 14, 2020.

Arlene enjoyed ceramics and having a ceramic business with her sister, Delores.  She loved bowling and was involved in bowling leagues for many years.  She was an active member of the Lutheran Church, especially supporting the Women's Missionary League.

Arlene is survived by daughter Lori; son-in-law Martin Friedle; grandchildren Elizabeth (Franklin) Concannon and Andrew (Queena) Friedle; great-grandchildren Kevin and Hannah; brother Melvin Koeltzow; sister Diane Riggert; sisters-in-law Mina and Ollie Koeltzow; and many other nieces, nephews and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Linda Friedle; brothers Arnold and Ervin; sisters Ruth Marie (in infancy) and Delores.

Burial will take place in Greenlawn Cemetery, Berthoud, Colorado, on Monday, October 5th at 11a.m.
