Beatrice Helene Mautino, age 91, of Bethlehem, PA (formerly of Baltimore, Maryland), passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2024, enfolded in the love of her family. Bea was born on September 18,1933 in Long Island City, New York. She spent her youth in Waterbury, Connecticut with her parents, Charles and Florence Carpenter and her much-loved sister Rose.

Bea married the love of her life, Richard Mautino from Watertown, Connecticut, on October 14th, 1951, at the age of eighteen. They raised their family of three children, Dorothy, Kathryn and Kenny while stationed at various military postings throughout the United States and abroad in support of Rich's career as a Naval Officer.

While raising her three children Bea trained and became one of the early pioneers in the emerging world of computer programming. She initially taught at one of the earliest computer programming schools. Her programming career transitioned into her becoming instrumental in bringing the life insurance industry into the computer era, with a career in this industry spanning some 35+ years.

Education meant a lot to Bea. She volunteered and served as an elementary school teacher on base while stationed in Guam. Beyond being an incredible mother and having a successful and exciting career, it meant so much to her when she completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business at the University of Baltimore in 1986. Bea notably volunteered at the Maryland School for the Blind. She especially enjoyed teaching blind students the joys of swimming. Her level of dedication to students was acknowledged by the school when she received "Volunteer of the Year" honors.

After retiring, Bea and Rich continued to travel extensively before becoming residents at Kirkland Village Senior Living in Bethlehem, PA. Her life at Kirkland Village was focused on devotedly attending to her husband Richard's care needs, facilitating, extending and enhancing the quality of their time together. At Kirkland Village she actively participated in many activities including Billiards, Bridge, Bocce Ball and other activities. She remained actively engaged with family and friends in person, via text messaging and Facebook until she had to leave us on October 27th.

Beatrice is survived by Richard, her husband of 73 years, her sister and brother-in-law Rose and Dean Gernon, her daughter and son-in-law Dorothy and John Travanti, daughter Kathryn Ash, son and daughter-in-law Kenneth and Nancy Mautino. She is also survived by her grandchildren David Travanti, Richard (Julia) Mautino, Christopher Mautino, Lauren (Zachary) Bodge, Nicole (Patrick) Fonda and Olivia Ash and great-grandchildren Ian Mautino, River Bodge, and Colin Mautino. Her love and inspiration will live on in the hearts and thoughts of her family and numerous, various and wonderful friends from her amazing life.

A memorial service for Beatrice will be held at Kirkland Village Monday November 18th at 1:00 pm. A funeral will take place at Arlington National Cemetery on Friday, February 7, 2025 at 1:00p.m.
