Betty was born on January 27, 1932 in Penns Grove, NJ, to Frank & Dorothy Straughn. She attended local schools, graduating from Penns Grove Regional High in 1949. She attended Drexel Institute of Technology in Philadelphia with a degree in Home Economics & her teaching certificate in June 1953. She taught in the grade schools of Summit, NJ, then at Northeast Jr. High in Bethlehem, Pa. She married in June 1954 to Theodore Terry, raising their family in Bethlehem, Pa. She was a member of the former St. Matthews Lutheran Church, then of Blessed Trinity Lutheran Church. She taught Sunday School classes & was part of the Altar Guild at St. Matthews.

She loved her family & friends, sewing, rug hooking and gardening. She & her family enjoyed vacations in Five Islands, ME, where Betty had worked as a teenager.

She is survived by her husband, Theodore, brother, Jim, children, Bonnie, Jonathan (Lynn) & Peter (Maggie), grandchildren, Dan (Megan), Kristen (Bryce) & Rachel (Tim), great-grandchildren, Sophie, Will & Jane.
