Carol E. Williams Maish Hafner, 99, of Bethlehem, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2022.  She was the wife of the late George Maish who died in 1986 and the late Charles Hafner who died in 2003.

Born in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late Owen G. and Helena (Groman)  Serfass Williams.

A graduate of Liberty High School, Carol received a Bachelor's degree in music education from Temple University and earned a Master's degree from Lehigh University.  She was a vocal music teacher in the Lower Saucon School District for five years, then taught music in the Bethlehem Area School District for 28 years before retiring.

Carol was a long time member of College Hill Moravian Church where she was a Sunday school teacher, elder, sacristan, director of the senior choir and past president of the Moravian Women.  She was also a member of the Bethlehem Garden Club and Allentown Municipal Opera Company.

Surviving are nephews: H. Thompson Vannatta (Joan), Wayne Serfass (Lillian), and Gary Serfass (Sandi); and a niece Jayne Serfass.  She was predeceased by a brother H. Morton Serfass, a sister Martha "Molly" Vannatta, and a nephew Bruce Vannatta.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 26, 2022 in College Hill Moravian Church,  72 West Laurel Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018.

Interment in Nisky Hill Cemetery is at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to College Hill Moravian Church or the Center for Vision Loss.
