Carolyn May Ament Bevans, 92, died peacefully December 10, 2024, in Moravian Village. Born and raised near Baltimore, Carolyn and her husband Carville Godfrey Bevans, Jr. knew each other since first and second grade.

Following graduation from Towson High School, Carolyn attended classes at University of Baltimore and Johns Hopkins University and was a ward clerk at Ft. Howard VA Hospital. She was promoted to the new Loch Raven VA Hospital where she was secretary to several department heads including Human Resources and Medicine.

Carolyn and Carville met up again twenty years after elementary school when both tried out for the Paint and Powder Club annual musical review in Baltimore. Carolyn, and accomplished tennis and badminton player, had just returned from badminton tournaments across Scandinavia and England where they played at Wimbledon. They married in 1960.

Carolyn and Carville with their two young sons moved to Bethlehem in 1965 where she became active with First Presbyterian Church, Bethlehem children and youth clubs, and Welcome Wagon. Carolyn also served in most offices of Bethlehem League of Women Voters. She compiled the annual Voters Guide that was published in The Globe Times.

After 55 years on Covington Avenue they moved to Moravian Village in 2020. Carolyn was active in exercise classes and other activities although she had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's.

She is survived by her husband, sons Carville III and companion Jorg Ohst, Jonathan and wife Lori, grandchildren Emily and husband Jonathan Krail, Conrad and wife Abigail and great-grandson Henry, Everette and wife Andrea, and Ashton and wife Alyssa.

Inurnment will be in the Memorial Garden of First Presbyterian Church at a later date. Carolyn loved flowers and maintained beautiful gardens. Carolyn requested, in her memory, those who knew her take a bunch of flowers or a plant to a neighbor, friend, or someone you not know well to bring them joy and brighten their day.
