Ceferino "Chip" Orta, 90, formerly of Bethlehem, died Friday, October 19, 2018.  He was the husband of the late Irene (Roth) Orta, who died in 1997, and Mary Ann (Hertzog) Orta.

Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Ceferino L. and Maria (Garcia) Orta.

A U. S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, he was an administrative assistant at Mack Trucks before retiring.  He later worked at Phoebe Home in Allentown.

A very talented woodwind musician, Chip played alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, clarinet and flute in the Jerry Miller Orchestra.

He was a member of Holy Infancy Church.

Surviving are children, Sharon Zehner, (Cleo) of Oakwood, Georgia, Gary Fye of Allentown, Denise Norman (John) of Allentown, Roxanne Jones (Andy) of Kempton, Stephanie Hines (Jeff) of Henniker, NH, Gregory Orta of Bethlehem and Wayne Orta of Allentown; brother, Alberto Orta of Allentown; sisters, Sylvia Nuño of Macungie and Gloria Villami of Sommerville, NJ; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 3, in Holy Infancy Church followed by burial in Cedar Hill Memorial Park.
