Minister Donald B. Watson, 71, of Bethlehem, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ following a long illness, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, July 1. He was the best friend and husband of Patricia (Sanders) Watson for over 50 years. Born in Hampton, VA, he was a son of the late Rev. William B. Sr. and Elysce M. (Williams) Watson. He grew up in South Bethlehem and graduated from Liberty High School in 1970. After graduation he was employed with Laborers Local Union #1174, Allentown, until his retirement.

Minister Watson received his Local Preacher's License on behalf of AME Zion Church-Harrisburg District in 2006 through 2013 as his illness prevented him continue as a traveling minister. He served his Lord through teachings at local prisons, Allentown Rescue Mission, Victory House and New Bethany Ministries in Bethlehem. He served an ordained minister to perform congregational rites. He was a life time member of St. John AME Zion Church, Bethlehem, where his father served and New Christian Harvest Church, Bethlehem, which was founded by his brother, Reverend Paul.

His most cherished accomplishment in life was being a father. He had a heart overflowing with love and admiration for his family and felt most at home when he was with them. Surviving with his wife, Patricia, are daughters Natalie P. Watson, at home and Natasha V. McGee (Alexander) of Morristown, NJ and his pride and joy, granddaughter, Olivia London McGee; brothers, Ricardo (Roseen) of Allentown, Wayne of Bethlehem and Jeffrey, Sr. (Carol) of Bethlehem; sisters, Rhonda Cosby of Bethlehem and Debra Watson of Massachusetts; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Roddley, William Jr. and Reverend Paul.

Services will be held at 12 noon on Friday, July 7, in Wesley United Methodist Church, 2540 Center Street, Bethlehem, PA, followed by interment in Nisky Hill Cemetery, Bethlehem. The family will be receiving visitors on Friday from 10 – 11:45 AM in Wesley Church.
