A graduate of Liberty High School Class of 1943, he was employed for more than 38 years in the Billing Division of Bethlehem Steel Co.

He was a member of Bethany United Church of Christ, Bethlehem, where he had served on the Consistory, the Worship Committee, Staff Relations Committee, Visitation Committee and ushered.  He was a member of the dart baseball team and was active in the Bethlehem Inter-Church Dart Baseball League having served in various positions including 21 years as league secretary and as Co-Chairman of both the 50th and 60th Anniversary Committees.  He also served for many years as the Yearbook Chairman.

He was a member of the Midway Manor Community Association and served on the Crime Watch.

He belonged to the Pennsylvania German Friends Group where he served as secretary and Fersommling Chairman.  He also took PA German classes at the Institute for Learning at Cedar Crest College.

He had been a volunteer at the West Bethlehem Food Pantry.

Survivors:  Daughter, Nedra of Arlington, VA; son, Kevan and wife Elaine of Elkridge, MD; grandchildren, Liana, Jonathan, Camila and Andrea; brothers, Rev. Edgar W. Shelly, Jr. of Sandusky, OH and Richard P. Shelly of Mechanicsburg; sister, Eleanor Scott of Webster, NY; nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 16, in the Pearson Funeral Home, 1901 Linden Street, Bethlehem, followed by burial in Trinity UCC Great Swamp Cemetery.  Family and friends may call from 9 - 10 a.m. Saturday.
