Ernest E. Gestl, 85, of Salisbury Township, passed away peacefully at home, Monday, October 28, 2024. Born March 4th, 1939 in Bethlehem, PA, he was the son of the late Rudolph and Frances Gestl. Ernie was a Retired Bricklayer of Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers, Local Union #5, out of Bethlehem. He was a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Ernie was well known and loved throughout the smallbore competition rifle world as a wonderful coach, mentor, competitor and easily took on the role of "rifle dad and grandfather". He was the coach of the Bear Rock Junior Rifle Team at North End Rod & Gun Club for over 30 years and Salisbury High School for 2 years.

Predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Dallas Ann Gestl (2013); he is survived by his siblings Raymond Gestl, Russell Gestl, and Laurie Schwenk. Sons Eric Gestl, Erin Gestl and wife Shelley, and daughter Eve Snyder and husband Richard. Grandchildren Alyssa Szal and husband Matthew, Alex Gestl and wife Andie, Charles Hazy, and Allyson Hazy. Great Grandchildren Annabeth Szal, Colton Szal, and Amelia Gestl.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024 from 3 - 5:00 p.m. in the Pearson Funeral Home, 1901 Linden Street, Bethlehem, PA 18017.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Ronald McDonald House.
