Gwyneth (Gwyn) Kalamar was born February 1, 1928, in Bethlehem, PA, to William Ellis Evans and Catherine Mary Medlicott Evans.

She graduated from Liberty High School in 1946 and then attended business school.  She worked for many years at the Sure Fit Factory.  She was also an assistant to Archibald Johnson, the first mayor of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.  She worked with the Mayor in his later years at his Bethlehem Township home, Camel's Hump Farm.

She was the wife of Stephen C. Kalamar, Jr., who passed in 2000.  Just prior to him serving his country in the Korean War, they married on November 1, 1952, and enjoyed 47 years together.  Friends and family celebrated their 40 ^th Wedding Anniversary with a surprise party for the couple at the Windish Hall in South Side Bethlehem.

Gwyneth was a founding member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Bethlehem Township.  She was active in the congregation serving on the altar guild, various committees, and sharing her "voice" in the choir.

Not a fan of flying, she enjoyed weekend day-trips and vacations with the family in the car to the Jersey shore, Lake Hauto in the Pocono Mountains, Myrtle Beach, SC, and trips to Florida to visit her siblings and for the kids to enjoy Disney.  When at home, she loved tending to her vegetable garden as well as her indoor plants and was quite proud of her collection of Amaryllis plants that she successfully cultivated to re-bloom.

A devoted mother, she spent many years attending numerous sporting events and band concerts.  She was also involved with the PTA of Spring Garden Elementary School where all three of her sons attended.  She was known by many of the students as the "Candy-Lady" for her role coordinating the candy booth for the annual Spring Fair.

She is survived by her three sons:  Stephen C. Kalamar, III, and his wife Pamela of Bethlehem, PA, and daughters, Courtney and fiance Mike Harris and Kayleigh; son, Jeffrey M. Kalamar, and his wife Carmen of Bethlehem, PA, and daughters, Shelby and Sierra; and son, David J. Kalamar of Washington, DC.

In addition, she is survived by an older sister, Marian Taylor of Easton, PA, a younger sister, Emily Himmer of Winter Park, FL, and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by four additional siblings –– a brother, David Evans and three sisters, Dyllis Rice, Nancy Rinehart, and Bessie Oberly.

Gwyneth spent the last 8 years at Country Meadows enjoying visits from friends and family.  She passed on the morning of April 16, 2017 (Easter Sunday), just as the sun was shining in her window.  It was a fitting day for her as Easter was one of her favorite days of the year.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 22, in the Pearson Funeral Home, 1901 Linden Street, Bethlehem, followed by burial in Bethlehem Memorial Park.  Family and friends may call from 10 - 11 a.m. Saturday.
