John G Althenn, 93, passed away on January 28, 2019 at the Keystone Villa in Douglassville, PA. A Bethlehem/Fountain Hill native, John was born March 22, 1925. An extraordinary man, John was preceded in death by his parents Margaret and John G. Althenn, brother Wilber Althenn, sisters Doris Brunnebend, Shirley Spadaccia, and wife of 62 years Grace Keiper Althenn until her passing in August of 2012. He was a remarkable husband, father, brother, son, friend and Christian. John had a warm sincere heart and was loved by all who met him and will continue to be loved by those left behind. John had an endless passion and kindness towards others as well as a keen sense of humor. He is survived by his daughter Linda Althenn, his sister Audrey Breitfeller, and countless in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. John was an avid reader, golfer, hunter, bowler, and card player.

John was a high school graduate of Fountain Hill High School and a Suny at Delhai (State University of New York) Graduate in 1951. John was also a WW2 veteran serving in the Air Force and stationed in numerous locations in Texas. After serving his country he became a hardworking, talented bricklayer over the next 40 years.

John was baptized and a member of St Peters Lutheran Church for over 80 years.

The family and friends of John would like to thank the countless medical professionals, support staff, chaplains, pastors, and all those involvedd in his care.  Penn State Health/St. Joseph's Hospital, Reading, Seasons Hospice and the Keystone Villa, Douglassville showed compassion that knew no bounds.

A Celebration of John's Life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, February 4, 2019, in the Pearson Funeral Home, 1901 Linden Street, Bethlehem, followed by burial in Bethlehem Memorial Park.
