Joseph Michael Protasiewicz, 78, of Bethlehem, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2025 in his residence. He was the husband of Dalgis (Cruz) "Dolly" Protasiewicz.

Born in Pittstown, PA, he was a son of the late Stanley and Helen (Howanitz) Protasiewicz.

After serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, Joseph was a member of the Scotch Plains New Jersey Police Force where he retired in 2002 as Chief of Police, and later served as the Chief of Police for the Kidder Pennsylvania Police Department. He served a total of 41 years in uniform.

Joe was a hard-working, stoic man, but also had a soft side. He loved to travel and explore the world. He also enjoyed eating, especially steak and pecan pie. He adored his puppy Daisy.

Surviving with his wife Dolly are a step-son, Michael Perez and his wife Tonya, step-daughter, Denise Baldwin and her husband Jim, and Leslie, Bill and Amy; grandchildren, Dayna, Mike, Eleanore, Vincent, RonAnthony and Emily; and six great-grandchildren. Joseph was predeceased by his first wife Lorraine, son Joseph Jr. and his sister.

There will be a visitation on Sunday, February 16, from 1:00 – 3:00 PM in the Pearson Funeral Home, 1901 Linden Street, Bethlehem.
