Karen Elaine Smith went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at the age of 79.  Karen was born on April 6, 1943 in New Haven, MI, the daughter of Erwin and Eileen (Harm) Seifferlein.

On August 6, 1966, Karen was united in marriage to Dale Richard Smith at St. John Lutheran Church in New Haven, MI.

After graduating from St. John Lutheran College, Winfield, KA and Concordia College, Seward, NE, Karen accepted a call to teach at Faith Lutheran Church and School in Forks Township and for many years was involved with the choir, altar guild, LWML, VBS, confirmation classes and preschool.  She also served as Chairperson of the Board of Education for several years.  She volunteered at Care Net of Easton, PA, and as a Girl Scout leader and Den mother.  In later years she taught at Lehigh Valley Lutheran School and The Lutheran Academy.

She was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Dale.  She is survived by her daughters Kimberly (Keith) Harvey of Downingtown, PA and Lynette (James) Hill of Hellertown, PA; son LCDR (Ret.) Timothy (Karen) Smith of Ponte Verde, FL; grandchildren Ian Harvey, Kallie, Connor and Kayla Smith; brother Russel (Barbara) of New Haven, MI; and sister Donna (Byron) Zuehlk of Washington, MI.  She was predeceased by her sister Beverly (David) Stepniak.

Visitation will be at the Pearson Funeral Home, 1901 Linden Street, Bethlehem, on Thursday, April 21, 2002 from 3 to 8 p.m. with a Prayer Service beginning at 7:30 p.m.  A Christian burial service will be held on Friday, April 22, at 11 a.m. with viewing from 10 - 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 2012 Sullivan Trail, Easton, PA.  Interment is in Fork's Cemetery, Forks Township.  In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial to Faith Lutheran Church.
