Our beloved mother, Mary Catherine "Kay" Cowen from Bethlehem, PA died peacefully on March 2, 2025. While we are devastated, we rejoice that she is in the loving arms of Jesus, and will never know pain or suffering again. Kay was born in Wilkes Barre, PA on June 21, 1936 to Raymond Eichmann and Crystal (Fox) Eichmann Endres. She graduated from Pittston Area High School in 1954 and went on to study nursing at Jefferson School of Nursing where she received her Bachelor's in 1958. While at Jefferson, she met her devoted husband Malcolm "Mac" Cowen. The two were married for 66 years.

Together Kay and Mac lived all over the world during Mac's 20 years of service with the Navy. Kay was both a stay-at-home mom to their three children and worked as a nurse. She has spent her life selflessly volunteering her time in the Navy Relief Society, countless years delivering Meals on Wheels, over 30 years with Musikfest in Bethlehem and could be found serving in many ways in her church. At Faith Lutheran Church in Easton she took care of the Cradle Roll, was a member of the preschool board, the social ministry, and played in the handbell choir among many other roles. Her church family has lost a vital and dedicated member, and she will be dearly missed. Kay was also a voracious reader and an excellent bridge player and participated in several bridge groups and book clubs.

Those left to cherish her memory are her three children Malcolm Cowen II (Karen), Malia Martin (Terry), Christopher Cowen (Rebecca); her eight grandchildren Stephen Sargent (Kelly), Sean Sargent (Ashlyn), JT Martin (Emily), Katie Ramos (Brenden), Evan Cowen, Grace Cowen, Noah Cowen and Abigail Cowen; seven great-grandchildren; and her sister Janet Matz. In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by her brother Raymond G. Eichmann II.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 6, from 9:30 – 10:45 AM followed by a service at 11:00 AM to celebrate her life in Faith Lutheran Church, 2012 Sullivan Trail, Easton, PA 18040.
