Kenneth Arlen Bernd was called into his Lord's arms on December 9, 2023. He was born on November 19, 1934 to Arthur Eberhart Bernd and Mary (Rutman) Bernd. He was the husband of Judith Hayas Bernd.

Ken was a graduate of Bethlehem High School in 1952 and joined the Air Force in 1953. He studied business and economics at Moravian College prior to working at First National Bank in Bethlehem where he met his wife Judy. Ken and Judy were married on May 9, 1964 at Concordia Lutheran Church in Bethlehem. In 1964, Ken began his nearly 30 year career at Bethlehem Steel where he worked until his retirement in 1994.

Ken enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing at White Deer Lake, and golfing in the Steel's golf league. As a member of Concordia Lutheran Church for 60 years he served as the Sunday School superintendent, church coucil member, and financial secretary. Ken was a Grenadier band parent for 11 consecutive years. Ken always enjoyed family gatherings and was an avid Phillies, Eagles and Penn State sports fan.

Ken is survived by his wife of 59 years Judy; children, Amy Ortwein (Kenneth), Kenneth Bernd (Karen), Matthew Bernd (Amy); grandchildren, David Ortwein (Jessica), Daniel Ortwein (Lindsay), Lauren Oleskowitz (James), John Bernd, Joshua Bernd, Macy Bernd; great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Jackson, Lily and Emma; sister Elaine Bigot and cousin Francis Williams.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 15, at 11:00 AM in Concordia Lutheran Church, Northampton. Burial will be private.
