Lynn E. Mackes, 71, of  Northampton, died Thursday, January 18, 2018, in her home surrounded by her three children.  Her husband of 38 years, Harold J. Mackes, died in 2014.

Born in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Delbert and Nancy Groenewold.

Lynn attended Goldey-Beacom College in Delaware on a full scholarship  and played on the field hockey team. She began her career at Curtis Publishing Co., Philadelphia, where she also worked as a part-time model.  Later, Lynn moved to Bethlehem and was employed as the executive secretary to the president of Lafayette College.  She was an avid and loyal Phillies fan.

She is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Lynn Wood of Bethlehem; sons, Richard Thompson of Charleston, SC and Ryan J. Mackes of Harrisburg;  a sister, Kathleen Nichols of Ormond Beach, FL; three grandchildren,  two great-grandchildren and her Guardian Angel friend, Georgia Thompson.

Services will be held at  11 a.m. Tuesday, January 23, in the Pearson Funeral Home, 1901 Linden Street, Bethlehem.  Visitation will be Monday from 6 - 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until service time.
