Manuel A. Lopez's Obituary
Manuel A. Lopez, 74, of Lower Nazareth Township, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2017, in St. Luke's Hospital, Anderson Campus. His companion of eight years, Susan Alwan, was the love of his life.
Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, he was a son of the late Manuel A. and Pauline (Caro) Lopez.
Manny was employed by the New York Life Insurance Co., then served as a firefighter in the New York City Fire Department for twenty years before retiring. After retirement he worked for the Suffolk County Transport Co., where he was a union representative, and also for Brentwood School District Security.
Of the Catholic faith, Manny taught CCD, coached basketball and baseball.
Survivors: Companion, Susan; son, Robert Lopez (Laurie) of Deland, FL; daughter, Deborah Lopez of Jackson Heights, NY; step-sons, Christopher Alwan (Erum) of Jacobus, PA and Michael Alwan of Nazareth; step-daughter, Britt-Marie Keeley (Kevin) of Abington, MD; sisters, Rosa Quiles of Central Islip, NY and Jeanette Besosa (Rafael Rodiguez) of New York City; brother, Antonio Lopez (Frances) of San Antonio, TX; half-sister and half-brother, Zulma Lopez-Nevarez and Manuel Lopez, both in Puerto Rico; and seven grandchildren.
Services: Will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 1, in the Pearson Funeral Home, 1901 Linden Street, Bethlehem, PA 18017. Family and friends are invited to attend viewing hours on Tuesday, January 31, from 6 - 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
