Nancy A. Hartman, 94, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 7, 2026 in Kirkland Village, Bethlehem. She was the wife of the late Gerald S. Hartman, who died in 2015, and the daughter of the late Leon W. and Margaret E. (Schmoyer) Ritter.

A proud Allentown High School graduate, Nancy had fond memories of growing up downtown, shopping at Hess's and participating in activities and services at St. John's Lutheran Church.  She had a diverse set of interests including crocheting, completing jigsaw and crossword puzzles, trying her hand at golf and tennis, and watching old movies (ones featuring Cary Grant and Fred Astaire were her favorites.)  She was also an avid fan of British television shows such as Are You Being Served? and Keeping Up Appearances.  Often Nancy could be found in the kitchen experimenting with new recipes, and was known for her homemade chicken potpie, her signature coleslaw, and her famous sour cream chocolate cake.  She enjoyed studying nutrition and ways to make various baked goods healthier, but was also an unabashed sweet tooth who kept a secret stash of chocolate in her bureau drawer.  Nancy liked being outdoors in nature, whether that be taking walks, puttering in her garden, watching and identifying the various birds at her many backyard feeders, or looking at books of Impressionist flower paintings. She also loved wearing any shade of the color red.  An absolute original, she was known for her offbeat sense of humor and wit, and found amusement in life's absurdities, while relishing her own eccentricities as well.

She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Heidecker and her husband Charles, and Andrea Hartman, all of Bethlehem, and her son Gerald S. Hartman Jr. and wife Cori of Vernon Hills, IL. In addition, she is survived by her three granddaughters: Keri Heidecker and her husband Rick Clee, Kate Hartman, and Robin Hartman. She is also survived by a brother Donald Ritter and wife Charlotte of Allentown, as well as sister Audrey Keeney of Easton.

Private services are being handled by the Pearson Funeral Home,  1901 Linden Street, Bethlehem.
