Raymond A. Spangler, Jr. of Bethlehem, was called home to be with our Lord on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at the age of 97 in Westminster Village.

Ray was born in Reading, PA, to Raymond and Ethel Spangler and had a long, distinguished career as an architect, working for many firms including Firestone and the Lehigh Housing Authority until his official retirement in 1987.  He continued to work as a freelance architect for many years thereafter.

Ray faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps, leaving the service in 1945 with the rank of Captain.

An avid music lover and piano player, Ray was the music director and played the organ for St. Andrew's Church in Reading.  He recently donated his Baldwin organ to the Bethlehem Memorial Park Mausoleum.  One of Ray's proudest moments was having the rare opportunity to play the Wanamaker Pipe Organ in Philadelphia.

Survivors: Proud husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather, Ray is survived by his wife of 69 years, E. Doris Spangler of Westminster Village; three children, Lynda Broadley in Colorado, Raymond Spangler, III of Bethlehem and Beth Ann Hoffman of Allentown;  grandchildren, Sean, Kelly and Heather Franklin, Adam Sivits, Jana and Jessica Hoffman, Alyssa and Timothy Spangler; great-grandchildren, Erica and Alex Franklin, Jordan and Xavier Trembley, Damien and Gage Bland, Thomas Beavers and Adria Modo; and great-great-granddaughter, Zaydee Jane Bland.
