Richard C. Dankel, 93, of Bethlehem, passed away Friday, November 4, 2022, in his home. He was the husband of the late Dorothy E. Dankel, who died in 2020.

Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late George W. and Anna E. (Hess) Dankel.

Richard faithfully served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War.

He was employed as a structural draftsman at the Bethlehem Steel Co. and Hanover Engineering before retiring.

A lifelong baseball aficionado, Richard was drafted by the White Sox in 1948 and played in the Alabama State League until he entered the Army in 1950. He was inducted into the Liberty High School Baseball Hall of Fame for the years he spent as a pitcher for Liberty.

Surviving are a daughter, Debra A. Getman, and husband Charles of Sellersville; sons, Richard L., and wife Sherry Norman of Mashpee, MA and Robert W., and wife Rachel of Greer, SC; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services and interment will be at the convenience of the family.
