It is with very heavy hearts we announce the untimely passing of our Dad, Pop-Pop and Husband, Richard D. Hasonich on July 16, 2022 after a brief illness.  He lived an absolutely amazing life!  A veteran of the US Army, he proudly served our country during the Korean War.  A lifelong resident of Bethlehem, PA, he and his wife Marlane celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on May 3.  Whether you knew him as Rich, Dick, Richard, or one of the amazingly talented nicknames given to him on the baseball field, he loved to be called Pop-Pop by Kaylynn, Camryn, Connor and Dylan.  They were the loves of his life.

After working 43 years at PennDot, driving buses for the Bethlehem Area School District, and umpiring (retired) baseball, or throwing darts, his true passion was taking care of Marlane.  The two of them danced the polka every chance they had.  They will be remembered for their smiling faces as they whirled around the dance floor.

Richard was a member of Light of Christ Lutheran Church (formerly Messiah), and was an avid Philadelphia sports fan.

Surviving with his wife, Marlane, are sons Rick (Mandy) of Bethlehem and Jeffrey (Kelsey) of Nazareth; a sister Carol Gehring (Charles) of Whitehall; and four grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 am Thursday, July 21, in Light of Christ Church, 2020 Worthington Avenue, Bethlehem, followed by burial in Bethlehem Memorial Park.  Calling hours will be Thursday 9 - 11 am in the church.

A Scholarship Fund for the Hasonich grandchildren has been established.  Checks may be made payable to the funeral home.
