Richard J. Hero, 85, of Hellertown, died Tuesday, December 18, 2018, in Saucon Valley Manor.

Born in Fountain Hill, he was a son of the late Frank and Theresa (Halleman) Hero.

A U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War, Richard was employed by Lucent Technologies for 23 years before retiring in 1988.

A lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Richard belonged to the Hellertown Community Center, Bethlehem Senior Citizens and the MORA Club.  He was an avid swimmer.

Surviving is a nephew, Jeffrey Hero of Runnemede, New Jersey.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 26, in the Pearson Funeral Home, 1901 Linden Street, Bethlehem, followed by burial in Union Cemetery of Hellertown.  Family and friends may call Wednesday from 10 - 11 a.m.
