Richard Paul Kitlar, 78, of Bethlehem, went to be with his late wife, Dorothy (Dark), (2020), on Friday, September 5, 2025. He died peacefully at Holy Family Manor surrounded by the love of his family and friends.

Born in Nanticoke, PA, he was the son of the late Steve V. and Mary A. (Cherr) Kitlar.

After graduating from Wilson High School, Richard enlisted in the US Navy. He rose to the rank of Petty Officer 1st Class. He honorably completed his service with the Navy and returned home. He began his career with Bethlehem Township as a police officer. At the same time, he continued his military service in the Army Reserve as a Sergeant 1st Class. He proudly served his country with honor and respect.

Richard will be remembered as an avid Phillies and Eagles fan. He was a colorful story teller, enjoyed collecting coins, reading history books, volunteering with Meals on Wheels, and spending time with friends.

Surviving are nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 11 at 11am, in the church, 3219 Santee Road. Call 10 am until Mass.
