Robert Wylie Brown, 90, of Kirkland Village, Bethlehem, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 23, 2022, in his home. He was the husband of Madeline J. (Fisher) Brown for 33 years.

Born in Pasadena, CA, he was the son of the late John Wylie and Anna (Wells) Brown.

Bob earned a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Colorado, Boulder then served as an Ensign and LTJG in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during the Korean War. He received an M.A. in Political Science in 1959 and a PhD in Geography in 1970, both from Columbia University. Bob taught at Riverdale School, Bronx, NY, Columbia School of General Studies, and Rutgers University. He later designed and managed GeoGraphics Map Store, Montclair, NJ.

During his lifetime Bob was always active in the communities in which he lived. In 1997, after moving from Montclair, NJ to Bethlehem, he and his wife Madeline joined the Bethlehem Rotary Club and quickly became active on the Youth Exchange Committee and took joint Chairmanship of Sergeant-at-Arms. He served as Program Chairman for two years. Along with Madeline he also became a leader and served on the Program Committee for "Hi Neighbors" at First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem. Bob was a member of Central Moravian Church, Bethlehem.

Bob has had a lifelong passion for travel: he traveled to many countries of Europe, to Austria and Russia on sister-city missions; to Thailand, to China four times, to Japan three times; to Tunisia twice, to Libya for research, to Morocco, Tanzania, South Africa; to Australia and New Zealand; to Brazil, Jamaica, Puerto Rico Dominican Republic. His ability to speak fluent French helped him in much of his traveling.

Another passion Bob developed over the later years was the creation of travel videos that he and Madeline showed to hundreds of audiences. Bob became proficient at making video productions with computer editing, narration and music.

Surviving with his wife Madeline are a son Jeffrey Wylie Brown, and wife Jessica of Pittsburgh, PA; a daughter Colette Lisa Emerson, and husband Mark of Bloomfield, NJ; three grandchildren, Hannah, Alexander and Justin.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 28, 2023, in Kirkland Village Auditorium, Bethlehem. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Bob's name may be sent to Kirkland Village. Arrangements, Pearson Funeral Home.
