Our Savior Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel.  Let us remember with thanksgiving what God has done through His servant Bob.

Robert Lynn Cheney was born in Fulton, Missouri on August 14 ^th , 1950 to parents Lawrence and Violet Cheney.  He was Baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit on May 7 ^th , 2015.  He confessed his Baptismal faith moving forward and was admitted to the altar to receive Christ's life-giving body and blood.  He was joined to his wife Patty in Holy matrimony for nearly 22 years.  Bob served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era.  He loved history, especially the Civil War.  He was also a crossword puzzle enthusiast, loved spending time with his grandchildren, and could often be found enjoying the outdoors.  On April 9 ^th , 2018, at the age of 67 years, Bob fell asleep in Jesus.  He is survived by his wife Patty, son Christopher (wife Marie) Cheney, Daughter-in-law Megan (husband Christopher) Crume, grandchildren: Montana and Colton Cheney, Caris and Sadie Crume.  Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord.  In doing so, they completely give up on themselves, clinging in faith to Christ and His righteousness for the forgiveness of sins and life everlasting.

The Lord gives and the Lord takes away; blessed be the name of the Lord.  We give thanks to God our Father through Jesus Christ, our Lord for our brother in Christ, Bob.

He grew up in a family that was not Christian.  Bob had a very rough childhood.  At a young age he learned how to defend himself and that he needed to fight for everything he had; including his life.  His difficulties followed him into adult life.  Following a drastic life change, he met his wife Patty, and they were united to one another in holy marriage for nearly 22 years.  As divine providence would have it, Bob finally found what he was looking for in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  He was Baptized on May 7 ^th , 2015 at Faith Lutheran Church in Easton, PA.  Bob came to understand that God used people and events throughout his life, both good and bad, to point him to the One who was not concerned about his past, but instead concerned about his future.  He lived his final years in joy with the knowledge that his sins were forgiven, and his salvation

While his family lived in Oakland, he fought on the way to school, at school, on the way home from school, and occasionally after he arrived there; all because he was a white kid in a black neighborhood.  Bob has worked nearly every blue collar job I can imagine including, but not limited to: landscaping, construction of all kinds, truck driving, ditch digging, auto mechanic, changing beacons on water towers in which he would ride out the occasional tornado, and collections of accounts receivable for various independent contractors.  He has walked through the desert without food and water
