Robert G. Hathaway, 58, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2021, in St. Luke's Hospital - Anderson Campus, Bethlehem Township, PA.

Born June 26, 1962, in Birmingham, Alabama, he was a son of the late Lewis and Barbara (Kurz) Hathaway.

Bob had numerous skills including painting, paperhanging, cooking, baking, gardening, animal care, and enjoyed Sudoku puzzles, watching movies and spending time outdoors in all seasons.  He was a faithful member of Concordia Lutheran Church, where he was employed as the custodian for the Lutheran Academy and then the church for the past eleven years.  At one point Bob was responsible for feeding and caring for two alpacas, a miniature horse, a goat, several bunnies, and a chicken coop full of egg-laying chickens, many of them rare breeds.  He also managed ducks and geese from time to time.  Inside the building he cared for various turtles, chameleons, geckos, snakes, iguanas and other lizards.  He became so attached to the alpacas that he earned the name 'The Alpaca Whisperer'.

Surviving are his daughters, Katie of Bayonne, NJ, and twins Molly and Tara of Chambersburg, PA; a sister Laura of Philadelphia; and a brother William.

A memorial service to celebrate Bob's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 6, 2021, in Concordia Lutheran Church, 3285 Pheasant Drive, Northampton, PA 18067.
