Robert A. Lowman, 71, of Bethlehem, died Friday, December 15, 2017.  He was the husband of Patricia (Toohey) Lowman for almost fifty years.

Born in Quakertown, he was the son of the late Arthur S. and Agnes (Fiey) Lowman.

Robert was employed in the Production Planning & Scheduling department at the former Bethlehem Steel Co. for 29 years having completed both Sales and Operational loop courses.  Later he worked as a substitute teacher in the Phillipsburg School District.

A 1968 graduate of Lehigh University, Robert served as co-captain of the basketball team, was named Most Valuable Player twice, and was awarded the Scholar-Athlete award.  He was a member of Theta Delta Chi fraternity.

Robert served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War earning both the Purple Heart and Bronze Star medals.

A member of the recently consolidated Light of Christ Lutheran Church, he was married in St. Matthew's Lutheran Church and spent many years serving that church in various capacities from Vacation Bible School superintendent to treasurer.

Robert was a volunteer for the Boutique at the Rink, Bethlehem.

Survivors: Wife, Patricia; daughter, Jennifer Lowman of Glenside; grandchildren, Isabella and Peter Anzideo; sister-in-law, Susan Toohey of Philadelphia; and loving dogs, Sparky and Gabbi.  He was predeceased by son-in-law, Matthew Anzideo in August.

Services: A calling hour will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 21, in Light of Christ (formerly Messiah) Church, 2020 Worthington Avenue, Bethlehem, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. in the church.  Arrangements, Pearson Funeral Home, Bethlehem, PA.
