Roberta C. Shearer, known to most as Bobbie, 93, of Bethlehem, passed away April 9, 2025 in Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest. Her husband of 53 years, William B. Shearer, died in 2006.

Born in Johnstown, she was the daughter of the late Robert L. and Elizabeth (Kuntz) Claycomb.

A graduate of Penn State University, Roberta was employed as a teacher for many years in the Bethlehem Area School District at Hanover Elementary School. Penn State became an important part of her life given the fact that four generations of family attended and graduated.

Surviving are a son Scott R. Shearer of Bethlehem; daughters Kimberly A. Riley-Castellani (Mike) of Center Valley and Tracy L. Golden (Paul) of Bethlehem; a sister Joann Pettit of Cape May Courthouse, NJ; six granddaughters and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son William.

Over the years Roberta enjoyed shopping, golfing, and volunteering at St. Luke's Hospital. She was the oldest current resident in Carver House where she lived for many years. Family was extremely important to Roberta, making their trips spent in Ocean City, New Jersey, a high point of her life.

She had a very distinctive sense of style and matching accessories. In honor of Bobbie's signature style we invite everyone to wear a matching bow to her service. Let's fill the room with bows just as she filled our lives with joy.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 17, in the Pearson Funeral Home, 1901 Linden Street, Bethlehem, PA, followed by burial in Bethlehem Memorial Park. Family and friends may attend visitation from 6:00 – 7:30 PM on Wednesday, April 16, in the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
