Ruth E. DeFrain, 97, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2026, in Cedarbrook Fountain Hill. She was the wife of the late David H. DeFrain who died in 2011.

Born in Freemansburg, she was a daughter of the late William H. and Cora M. (Grube) Smock.

Ruth was employed at Durkee Famous Foods in Bethlehem for many years before retiring.

Ruth is survived by her daughter Wendy Young (Richard) of Allentown; four grandchildren, Steven Young, Melissa Mackaravitz (Jeffrey), Rev. Kevin Young (Marissa) and Daniel Young (Rev. Sarah); three great-grandchildren, Micah Young, Harley Young, and Samuel Mackaravitz. She was predeceased by a daughter Donna R. Moyer in 2018.

Ruth was a longtime faithful member of Crosspoint Wesleyan Church. A life long music lover, she enjoyed playing the piano and accordian. In her spare time she liked to crochet.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 24, in Crosspoint Wesleyan Church, 1414 Pennsylvania Avenue, Bethlehem, PA, with a viewing from 10 AM until the service begins. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Allentown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Ruth’s name may be sent to the church.
