Sally Ann Johnson, 98, of Bethlehem, PA died 04/27/17. Sally Ann, daughter of John B. and Sadie Belle Blank Geissinger of Bethlehem, loving wife of Charles William Johnson of Bethlehem passed away at her home at Kirkland Village. She is survived by her loving daughters, Nancy J Adams and Susan M Johnson, her son-in-law John M Adams, Jr, and her grandsons Michael (Gretchen) and Gregory (Heather) Adams, and three great-grandchildren, Dylan, Evan and Bianca Adams.

A graduate of Liberty High School ('35), and frequently seen from childhood with her nose in a book or a NY Times crossword puzzle, Sally Ann graduated from Wilson College in 1939 with a BA in Languages, going on to complete her MA in English in 1941 at Lehigh University. Always a musician and scholar, she and "Charlie" lived in Lexington, KY for 37 years, where they were founding members of the celebrated Lexington Singers chorus. Sally Ann taught high school English, Latin, French, German, Speech and Journalism in her early career, going on to become, and retire as, Acquisitions Librarian at King Library at the University of Kentucky. Despite this distinguished academic career, Sally Ann always claimed her greatest achievement to be her happy family.

Having moved to Kirkland Village in Bethlehem in 1995, Mrs. Johnson enjoyed her involvement in the Kirkland community – as a volunteer, a contributor to Contact newsletter, and as an avid duplicate bridge player.

She will long be remembered as a wise, thoughtful, humorous, friend and Mother, and will be sorely missed and loved forever.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 6, in the Pearson Funeral Home, 1901 Linden Street, Bethlehem.  Family and friends may call Saturday from 10 - 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
