Rev. Stanley Robert Trout, 86, passed away July 24, 2026, at home in Luther Crest community, Allentown, PA. Born on April 11, 1940 in Reading, he was the only son of Stanley E. and Dorothy (Burke)Trout. He is survived by his wife Carole Ann (Smith) Trout who he married August 30, 1964.

A 1958 graduate of Reading High School and 1962 graduate of Bloomsburg State College, he graduated from Gettysburg Lutheran Seminary, and was ordained in May 1965. He was called to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Hershey. During his tenure his prayer was placed in the cornerstone of the newly built Hershey Medical Center. The congregation celebrated a large youth group who performed the musical “Godspell” 34 times by taking it on the road. Before he left he was asked to chair a volunteer group to interview Vietnam refugees at Fort Indiantown Gap. He left Hershey in 1975.

He left the parish to become coordinator of AALP (Allentown Area Lutheran Parish) where he over saw 18 congregation in shared ministry. Most Sundays he was a supply pastor throughout the Northeast Synod.

Missing the parish he was called to Christ Lutheran Church, Hazleton in 1979 where he served until retirement in 2004. His ministry there included many interesting services, re-construction of the pipe organ, creation of Christkindlfest which featured a large nativity display, and a TV ministry.

After retirement he served two interims at Zion Lutheran Church, Old Zionsville, and St. John’s Lutheran Church, Fogelsville. He supply preached almost every Sunday and exclusively at St. Paul III, Easton, for six years and Holy Trinity, Northampton, for seven years.

Our lives were touched by many wonderful people during his 61 years of ministry.

Survivors: His loving wife Carole Ann and several cousins, niece Kirsten Trimble, and her son Christopher.

A private service will be held in Pearson Funeral Home with a memorial service on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 11:00 AM in Crest Hall at Luther Crest, 800 Hausman Road, Allentown.  Friends may call from 10:00 AM until the service begins.
