Walter J. Hughes, Jr., 84, of Effort, PA, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2021, in Brookmont Healthcare Center, Effort.

Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Walter J. Sr. and Dorothy Amanda (Shenk) Hughes.

Walter was employed by the Liz Claiborne Warehouse for many years before retiring.  He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.

Always athletic, Walter enjoyed sports.  He loved jazz music and playing the drums.

Surviving are daughter Karen and husband Joe of Dallas, Texas, daughter Jennifer Shockley and husband David of Wescosville, son Scott and wife Deb of Kunkletown, and daughter Pamela Hughes of Wilkes-Barre; eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 15, in the Pearson Funeral Home, 1901 Linden Street, Bethlehem, PA followed by burial in Bethlehem Memorial Park.  Family and friends are invited to a calling hour Tuesday from 10 a.m. until service time.  www.pearsonfh.com
