Walter E. Loy, III passed away on April 2, 2023 at his home in Slatington, PA. He was the son of Walter E. Loy, Jr. and Janet Swartz Loy. Walter was preceded in death by his father and his wife, Jane Hippenstiel Loy. He is survived by his mother, his brother David (Doreen) of Lynchburg, VA, and sister Cynthia (Stephen) Kalkwarf of Tewksbury, MA, three nieces, one nephew, and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Walt grew up in Schnecksville and was a graduate of Parkland High School. He attended Williams College in Williamstown, MA where he graduated with degrees in Geology and Physics. After attending graduate school at MIT, Walt commissioned in the Navy and taught nuclear physics at the Naval Nuclear Power School in Orlando, FL. He spent most of his professional career teaching high school science in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Virginia and he found joy in tutoring both math and science. Walt spent his last years working locally for Allied Security.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 15, with a calling hour from noon until services begin at the Pearson Funeral Home, 1901 Linden Street, Bethlehem, PA.
