William J. Hettenbach, 89, of Bethlehem, passed away Saturday, November 27, 2021 in LVH - Muhlenberg.  He was the husband of Mildred A. (Dodig) Hettenbach for 61 years.

Born in Freemansburg, he was the son of the late William George and Mary T. (Shiner) Hettenbach.

A graduate of Bethlehem Business College and US Army OCS, he retired as a Lt. Col. from the Army after serving more than 30 years, partially with the 213 National Guard Support Group, Allentown.  He was also employed as foreman at Fritch Lubes.

Bill loved Lake Wallenpaupack and participated in fishing, boating and waterskiing.  He bowled with the Bethlehem Men's Church Bowling League for many years.  He snow skied into his 70's, enjoyed playing chess, sudoku, but most of all spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving with his wife Mildred are a daughter, Lisa A. Burcin (Gregg); sons, William R. (Margaret Sanchez) and Robert W. (Alisa) all of Bethlehem; a sister Mary Ann Veanus of Allentown; grandchildren, Christopher, Eric, Vincent and Anna; a niece and nephews.  He was predeceased by a sister Margaret.

Family and friends are invited to his Visitation from 2-3 p.m. Saturday, December 4, in the Pearson Funeral Home, 1901 Linden Street, Bethlehem.  Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bill's memory may be sent to New Bethany Ministries, Bethlehem, or Wounded Warrior Project.
